Very good work, man! O0

Quote O0

Thanks a lot guys! O0

I was going to do a piece today, but unfortunately I got called up to do a co-worker a favor so I didn't have time to finish it. Just pulled if from the cnc, so it still needs some filing and some holes. I'll get it done friday! :)

But I decided to put it in here, just as a kind of a teaser:

Ty! :)

I had to cut it short today. But I have the next 10 days off, so some progress is to be expected! :)

But it is indeed a GFX backplate:

I don't know exactly what went wrong in measuring, but I had to take a bit off of the corner of the GFX pcb. No problems though, it's just PCB! :)

Sorry for the short update, I'll be back during the weekend with more! :)

I also bought some fittings. I was supposed to redo some myself, but they were on sale and for less than $1 a piece for these - Looking that good, there was no way I neede to do that! :)

I should be going to the workshop tomorrow, so hopefully yet an update shall be here by then! :)

I'm back! :)

Went to the workshop to find out my access card does not work on holidays! :(

Luckily it's brand new as the old one broke, and I therefore had a guest pass that I have not yet returned. O0

First look of the controller for the dvd-drive:

Can't wait to see this in action with components on, and software written for it!

Finally I got the I/O plate done!

Usb/Gfx/Lan mounted - The holes for the audio were a bit too small so I'll get those done tomorrow or saturday:

Put in the case. This is just for testing, I'll set it with rivets when I know it's ready!

That's it for now. I hope to have more for you tomorrow! O0

What to do on friday morning of easter vacation?

I was planning to go to the workshop, but decided to stay home and get started on sleeving the PSU!

Going with white, blue and red.

I used my trusted homemade tool for this. Two little pieces of metal cut to size.

Halfway done with atx cable, the PCI-e is quite anoying since it's a 2x6 pin splitter, so I'm not done with that!

5 wires later I snapped both the small bits off of the tools :muro:

06042012342Medium.jpg

But that wasn't gonna stop me so I got it done. This included a 5 minute search on the floor for one of the little tool-bits... 0,3mmx0,8mmx5mm in length is not easy to spot even though I vacuumed the floor the day before yesterday! :2funny:

I might get the cable done today! If not, I'll hope to get it done tomorrow after some hours at the workshop.

O0 well

Thank yoU! :)

A small update for you guys. I did a quick mockup with the donor gfx card, just to let you see how it's going to pan out.

I need to cut some different size spacers for the PSU cover to get it in line. Unfortunately it's not an exact science to get that damn thing sitting perfect! :)

Also I need a hole for the 8pin mobo cable, and something to hide the PCI-e riser cable somehow.

O0

Thank you very much! :)

Very nice sleeving!

And good work with the VGA waterblock. O0

Thanks man! :)

Unfortunately the waterblock is not going to be used on this build, it's just an old 8800 gts card..

Not sure I understand what you mean... Unless you want an update? :)

Time for a small update! :)

I had some good hours at the workshop today! Until I came home and looked at the pics I took of the periodic table... There are a couple of errors that I just hadn't seen after I milled it! :(

But now you mostly know how it's gonna look:

14042012353Medium.jpg

Besides that, I finally cut a hole in the top of the case for the dvd- drive:

Damn soundproofing is really hard to take off!

14042012348Medium.jpg

14042012349Medium.jpg

14042012354Medium.jpg

And this is where the periodic table will be seated. This also gives a hint about the size of it:

14042012355Medium.jpg

So apart from having to re-do the damn plaque, I also need to pull apart my dvd-drive. This is because I havn't got the faintest idea where to find a button to open it!

It should be somewhere around where I beautifully have made a "circle" but I just can't figure it out:

I shall see you guys soon! :)

curious idea the periodic table :)

Thanks man! :)

I had some problems with the dvd-drive and that's now fixed! There was no button to eject!! :cheazz:

I took it upon myself to investigate further, and I spotted a small difference between my drive and one with the front bezel I found online.

With the bezel. It has 3 more lines than mine. Probably for the LED and the eject button.

286592430_9281.jpg

Mine, as you see 3 less lanes on the small ribbon:

14042012356Medium.jpg

Decided to keep going, and I scraped a bit off of the plastic on the ribbon to expose the copper.

I tried on an old IDE slot in drive, and there you just had to short 2 wires, so why not try it?

=

Sorry for the video quality, my cellphone is NOT good at it! :)

Then I soldered a couple of wires on there:

14042012357Medium.jpg

No damn dvd drive is gonna keep me down!

Voila:

=

Now I just have to find a rifle and start shooting at the discs like clays when they fly out, or hunt for an old drive that has the small brushes that stops the disc from flying!

I'll go with the second choice, although the first would have been fun too!

  • 2 weeks later...
very homemade resurrection O0

Thanks man! I'm just happy I got it to work! :)

I just love it! :smitten:

I hope you love the new one better! :)

I do believe it is time for an update! O0

I finished the back of the case:

21042012367Medium.jpg

23042012368Medium.jpg

The little chair thingy does not look good anymore... :asd:

Mounted:

27042012379Medium.jpg

I also got around to fixing the periodic table. It was a NIGHTMARE! CamWorks crashed on me everytime I tried to fix it, and when it didn't it took 30-40 minutes to update the toolpaths... So it litterally took me hours of working around to do it. But it's done! :)

I put in a cigarette to give a hint of the size, it's 100x150mm:

27042012378Medium.jpg

That's it for now, but I'm on the job again guys! :)

I forgot one small thing in my update!

The inlet/oulet on the rads are 1/4" and my fittings are 1/8".

This does not work:

27042012381Medium.jpg

But add this little thing that I made when I had 15 minutes after work today:

27042012382Medium.jpg

And all is well:

27042012384Medium.jpg

That's it for now! :)
