Va bene la sicurezza, ma non mi devo fare un server dei servizi segreti... Tengo a precisare che la classica condivisione di una cartella posta nella directory home non è un problema e tramite Yast, Samba Server si configura in pochi secondi, es: [test] comment = TEST guest ok = Yes inherit acls = Yes path = /home/mdc-server/TEST read only = No Il problema era condividere un intero raid composto da 4 HD che non ne voleva sapere di farmi accedere tramite windows, ho così risolto: [NAS] comment = NAS Public = Yes guest ok = Yes inherit acls = Yes path = /var/run/media/mdc-server/Raid-Linux read only = No admin users = nobody Premetto che con la versione precedente di suse non ho fatto niente di particolare per condividere il raid, mistero! Ora torno al lavoro...

Installato la 12.3 Prime impressioni rispetto alla 12.2 Grafica migliorata Più veloce in avvio e nell'aprire i file e cartelle Non mi ha perso il raid su scheda dedicata Attivato il bonding tramite yast in 10 secondi Per il momento l'unica pecca rimasta e peggiorata è la configurazione di samba che dopo 2 ore non ho ancora capito perchè non funziona al 100%

Purtroppo c'è da lavorare parecchio per rendere compatibile il Fast Boot e Restart to UEFI con le mobo non native W8. ASRock ovvviamente a dato priorità alle mobo più recenti senza però dimenticarsi delle più datate a differenza di altri produttori che hanno rilasciato precocemente i driver W8 "dimenticandosi" di aggiornare i bios per sfruttare le nuove cartteristiche che porta W8.

@leo Per la doppia lan lasciala perdere se non hai uno switch che supporti IEEE 802.3ad Per il procio, se usi FreeNas ti basta anche un Atom se non hai pretese. FreeNas stà su una chiavetta USB da 4Gb, non serve un SSD. Se vuoi utilizzare il Raid 5 ti consiglio 8Gb di ram e le prestazioni dipendono molto dal controller (meglio intel). Se non vai di Teaming/Bonding basta il controller raid integrato. -

Per il mio utilizzo (server/workstation/virtualizzazione) è senza dubbio migliore di ubuntu, però in linea generale si equivalgono. Non esiste "meglio una o l'altra", dipende molto dall'hardware e dall'utilizzo dei pacchetti, ad esempio io preferisco KDE a GNOME e relativi pacchetti. Ho sempre preferito Kubuntu a Ubuntu, non ti resta che provarle tutte e giudicarle personalmente.

Sono entrambe ottime distrò e le differenze sono molto a discrezione personale, entrambe sono complete di tutto e quindi è difficile dire i pro e contro. Ubuntu è orientata verso la massa e quindi a suo vantaggio ha un grande supporto ed una ricca documentazione in italiano. Suse è nata per uso professionale e la vince sulla stabilità e velocità, Yast è la cosa più bella che potessero inventare. Per chi è alle prime armi nel mondo linux consiglio ubuntu per il supporto dalla rete, per gli esperti non serve consigliare... Ma ti interessa per uso personale oppure è solo una curiosità? Dammi qualche dato in più, potrei andare avanti per ore a scrivere per confonderti le idee...
