The Test details CPU:INTEL Core 2 Extreme QX6800 MB: DFI LANParty DK P35 T2RS DRAM:CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF VGA:ELSA 8800GT 512M HD:Seagate 7200.10 320G POWER:Corsair VX450W Power Supply Cooler:Thermaltake V1 The DFI monitoring software and utility install pages. Stable in FSB500 (Quad core) CPU: 500X7=>3500 MHz 1.28V DDRII: 1000 CL4 4-3-9 About 3D 8800GT 600/ 1800 3DMARK2003 3DMARK2005 3DMARK2006 About DRAM CPU: 400X8=>3200Mhz DDRII: 1200 CL5 5-5-15 1.98V Steady in Dual SP 2004 Blend mode DDRII 1200 CL4 4-4-9 2.47V CPU: 400X9=>3600Mhz DDRII 1200 CL4 4-4-9 Performance and bandwidth After I spent a lot of time to adjust a suitable “Clock fine delay” value, the system ends up in 400/ 1200MHz stably(further, it reached CL4) QX6800, the limit of FSB: 515MHz A single Super PI 32M finished stably! 45nm E8500 4G 1.28V, Dual SP2004 finished stably. The latest Nov. BIOS of DK P35 supports 45nm CPU. Merits: 1)There is an ID of “Dark” from outside to inside. Looks good 2)All in solid capacitors and on board Power/ Reset button and those Mosfit heat sink 3)Rich Bios options for tweaking, particularly in DRAM’s ratio 4)The FSB record is almost the fastest of all P35 boards in market. It rocks me when DRAM can reach 1200 & CL4 level. 5)High C/P ratio in DFI LANParty series Drawbacks: 1)The timing of launching this model is a bit too late to others in market 2)DFI product is being harder to find in channels, it’s inconvenience to buy 3)Although the 3-way Crossfire is not that popular in market yet, but if the board has one more PCIe x16 slot, the expansibility must be better. I tried to use QX6800 CPU for a record of DK P35, but my highest record is only FSB485MHz. Aside from this, the performance of Dual core CPU is a bit weaker than UT P35. But you still can reach FSB550 to 580 if your CPU is good enough. DFI LANParty DK P35 Series provides a “overclockable” BIOS and features, that make users have an good OC environment; DFI features 4-phase PWM this time. Although it looks a bit weak, but it equipped with 16 mosfit within which gains a stronger performance than 6, 8-phase digital PWM. It has been a long time that DFI created a high C/P ratio model like NF4 Ultra-D. DK P35 is a similar model and has good performance too. Hope DFI could continue to launch more and more good C/P ratio models to satisfy users. Next Review of mine. Thermaltake QFan Toughpower 650W

Start-up screen BIOS’ main page BIOS’ options The CPU FSB- 200 to 700MHz Boot up Clock from 100 to 400 MHz This function is to let the clocking can lock in a no. that you pick in Boot-up clock function. It helps to increase the success rate when extreme OC. DRAM multiplier ratio CPU Feature DRAM Timing, I think this is DFI’s expertise. According to each option to adjust, maybe you can gain a highest OC record. The hottest Intel Bearlake chipset is replaced Intel P965 series at the moment. I think most of the overclockers remember that DFI’s NF4 motherboards. It has an excellent performance in OC and stability. Important, it only cost you a reasonable price only. DFI launched many high-end products while in this “year of Intel”. The LANParty DK P35 series has a total of 3 different models. The value price one quite has the same momentum which likes NF4 Ultra D before There are 2 different sub-models for LANParty DK P35 Series: 1.Solid aluminum capacitor + ICH9R 2.High-end Japanese capacitor + ICH9 What I knew about the price is around US$155 to 170. I arrange the highest model of DK P35 for my lab test. (Solid capacitor + ICH9R) The package is all in black color. Refer to the theme “Dark” The accessories inside: Menu, driver’s CD, IO shield, ICH9R, cables…etc. DFI LANParty DK P35 T2RS The lower left of the board: 1X PCI-E X16 2X PCI-E X1 3X PCI 1X Floppy The lower right of the board: A Black heat sink for SB to loss heat. 6X SATAII,??RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1 and RAID 5 Built-in onboard Power/Reset button The upper left of the board: 4X DIMM DDRII,533/667/800/1066 1X IDE,UltraDMA 33/66/100Mbps 24Pin power Input The upper left of the board: 4-phase digital PWM design + 16Mosfit and Mosfit heat sink. 8Pin voltage Input IO 6 x USB2.0 Realtek ALC885HD 8ch audio, S/PDIF-out Red Jumper is a convenience function for clear CMOS. The size of Northbridge heat sink should be fit for most of cooler in market. Besides, there is no more warranty sticker’s issue.

BIOS also have the FSB overclock options. CPU FSB adjust up to 260MHz. DRAM also have multiplier options. This gaming notebook is really powerful on performance. Let’s take a look on 3D performance. Independent graphic – NVIDIA 8600M GT 512MB VRAM TURBO mode – CPU 2400MHz. 3DMARK2003 3DMARK2005 3DMARK2006 Gaming presents Age of Empire 3 Let’s take a look in real game. Setup: 1440*900 resolutions. Frame rate is about 33~40 per second. 8600GT is able to handle most of new games. VISTA test software. Normal mode – CPU 2000MHz TURBO mode – CPU 2400MHz Even this is NoteBook, but this is performance gaming platform, so the test result is really good. GX600 use big capacity 250GB 5400RPM SATA HDD. HD Tach HD Tune The key feature is overclock, so how is the stability? Push the TURBO button, SP2004 is stable. That’s amazing, we got the overclock options in BIOS. The highest setup design is 260MHz, so we may try the 2600MHz to test SP2004. 2000Mhz-CINEBENCH R10 CryatalMark 2004R2 2000Mhz 2400Mhz The summery of the GX600 test experience. LCD: 15.4inch is big enough, color is good, is really suitable to use for gaming and media center platform. Audio: 4.1 channel speakers is good with DOLBY support, MSI have great improvement on audio side, good for surround experience. CPU: Taiwan retail version will use T7500 2.2GHz dual core CPU, will have higher performance. HDD: 250GB SATA 5400RPM, is the highest on big size HDD. That will be perfect if we can use 7200RPM HDD here. Shell: This time MSI have special totem design, but that’s not popular for everyone. If they can design different totems, that will be great. Another story, the mirror surface painting is good, but that might be easy to get dirty. I think as a high performance and overclock platform, MSI did have great effort on this NB with great hestsink design, no matter idle or full speed, the fan speed is not very high, and it’s only about 50 degree. When overclock or TURBO mode, fan speed will get higher, but with acceptable noise, that’s also the plus point. For the price, of course other competitors also have products on same segment. MSI GX600 takes 1700~1800USD, that’s not high price compare with others. Points to improve: Use 9Cell battery but only have 2.5 more hours with DVD playback. The bundle laser mouse should use wireless design. So far MSI come out different segment, Professional/ YA Edition/ Gaming/ Value? Crystal segments. GX600 is for Gaming, comes with great overclock ability, and the cost is also lower then other gaming notebooks. The notebook market will become more fun with MSI’s new products join it, we also have more different choices. The next test: ATI new high performance VGA – RADEON HD 3870 512M

Recent years the biggest change on PC market, I think that must be the drop of the DIY market. We can see that change easily, many years ago, the PC markets was full of people when weekend. Consider to the market, the most reason must be the rise of NB market. Because of the huge price dropped, now many entry level NB products did not have the specific price gap compare with PC platforms. All the NB makers also stay focus on NB business market share growing. There are 3 main segment on the market: Light and small segment, mostly belongs to 12inch design, but most of them did not have the independent graphic core so the performance is lower. 14inch is average in many aspects, comes with independent graphics to have higher performance. That’s popular in ASIA. The last segment is the size over 15inch design, besides the screen is bigger; they also have the most external interface. This is the segment which can be the PC replacement, more on desk and less on trip. This time we have the MSI newest NB product here. MSI GX600, 15.4inch LCD / 250GB HDD / 8600GTM / 2.6kg Dedicate belongs to performance platform, even it’s 15.4inch design, but the weight compare with 14inch is very close.. The BOX design. Bundle with knapsack, easy to carry GX600. The accessories. The long life battery with 9Cell 7200mAh. Use this battery will make the weight become 2.8kg MSI GX600 itself. There is the detail spec. sticker out side. The outlooks of GX600 also got special fire totem design. Left side IO LAN port / Modem port / 2x USB2.0 / DVD Super-Multi / HD-DVD Combo. Right side IO Power / D-Sub / S-Video / HDMI / 2x USB2.0 / IEEE1394 / eSATA port. Full of the heatsink holes. All copper sink inside with good heat spread effect. GX600 comes with different totems than other MSI NB products. Silver push button comes with the LCD panel hold design. Below is the MMC / SD / MS card reader. Ear phone out / MIC in/ AUX in ports. Inside design Up right side above keyboard, The red block is the DOLBY audio speaker output, the left one is power button. The key button in the middle is the TURBO. When we push this button, that will flash with orange light, and will make the CPU overclock with 20% frequency enhance with FSB overclock. Inside above, 15.4inch wide screen LCD, good 16:10 design for better image view. This LCD panel is good on view angle and color present; so far this is the best one I’ve ever used before. Push the TURBO button will auto overclock CPU to have 20% higher frequency. The light will flash with /orange color.

NVIDIA’s high-end graphic card which hits in 2007 has simultaneously opened the DX10 into a new era: 8800Ultra, 8800GTX and 8800GTS three models. The 8800 Ultra has the highest performance, but the price also reaches as high as about 600 US Dollar. The best selling of these three probably is the 8800GTS 320MB, most of the manufactures are pricing around USD$300, plus the 8800GTS also have the above two models most likely performance, but the price has actually saved one half. Since 8800 series released into the market, the 8800 series always remain a problem... There is a large scales increased performance of 8800 than the previous model, but using 90nm, its power consumption and the high temperature, really let the consumers somewhat be unable to endure. The new release model of 8800 series from NVIDIA, named as 8800GT, is using 65nm process. The streaming processor surmounts 8800GTS and is closer to 8800GTX. Also, the price is slightly lowered than 8800GTS 320MB. Here comes the lead -ELSA 8800GT 512MB. At current time, it can only see the reference design in the market. The only difference between each manufactures is the sticker - make the issue in the outward appearance. Due to the 65nm processing, the size of 8800GT is obviously smaller. Especially the cooling fan on it is much smaller Duo DVI output and one TV-out connector Same as 8800GTS, it only needs one 6PIN to provide the power. Open up the cooling fan to check 8800GT Right half materials The code number is the G92 chip Memory uses Qimonda HYB18H512321BP-10 Bottom side of the cooling fan Even though the radiating surface is slightly small but the overall quality is not bad at all. The temperature VGA overclocking: The standby temperature is 58? with t he room temperature is 26?. After running 3DMARK 2005, temperature is 72? Even though the temperature aspect does not calculate lowly, but with often surpasses 80?’s 90nm GTX/Ultra, the 8800GT radiation volume only half of it. The temperature has certain degrees reducing but the scope certainly is not very big Game performance testing Age Of Empires III Setting value: Resolution 1280X1024 Others are the highest setting VGA: 600/1800 Edge smooth quality: High OC VGA:685/1712/1932 Edge smooth quality: High Need For Speed Carbon Setting Value Resolution: 1280X1024 Detail level: Highest Others are default setting VGA: 600/1800 OC VGA:685/1712/1932 COMPANY OF HEROES Setting Value Resolution: 1280X1024 Detail level: default setting VGA: 600/1800 OC VGA:685/1712/1932 Self setting: open 4XAA, others are the highest quality. VGA: 600/1800 OC VGA:685/1712/1932 When the system starts instantaneous, the cooling fan into full speed condition, it causes some of the noise. But it immediately reduces the temperature to the controls condition. No matter runs under the 3D or overclocking condition, the 8800GT’s noise is all suitable low, nearly running without any sounds Concluded above performance testing result, the 8800GT is already close to the NVIDIA’s highest level’s graphic cards. In many games or testing software, the performance is outstanding, even running under the 4XAA. It can remain high speed. Plus the 65nm, it is efficiently reduce the power consumption and the size of the card. There is no double that the 8800GT will take over the previous version of 8800GTS in the middle to high end market. Recently I am preparing my midterm test. Only make a simple test of the 8800GT major performance, next week if the time is available, the DX10 related testing report will come out after. The following update testing Super overclocking Notebook-MSI GX600
