L'unità, nata sotto il nome di Travelstar 5K500 , adotterà l'interfaccia sata2 3Gb/s e conterrà tutte le innovazioni presenti sui dischi desktop (Perpendicular Pecording,Rotational Vibration Safeguard,Bulk Data Encryption). Sarà disponibile in tagli da 400Gb e 500Gb.
