Aggiornamento sostanzioso, permetterà alla console di effettuare l'upscale (cioè convertire l'immagine) dei DVD e dei giochi PSone/PS2 alle risoluzioni HD fino a 1080p per una migliore qualità di visualizzazione sui televisori più recenti, noti per la loro propensione a "soffrire" i flussi video in bassa risoluzione.
