SilverStone TJ11, the King of Kings

Let me make an introduction to this article: the review you will read today, for me, is a personal achievement! Since the SilverStone TJ11 came on the market I said "I have to test it!" I tried to do my best to get it in the lab for testing, and here we are! I sincerely thank SilverStone for this great opportunity and all people that have contributed to this cause

SilverStone TJ11, internal analysis. Part II

PSU Section

The positioning of the PSU is very particular because in addition to the possibility of fitting two of them, it is positioned rotated of 90 degrees in the lower part, and is thermally isolated from the rest. There are no limits in size so you can install very long models, and modular.

At the rear there is a filter made of hard plastic and with a quick release system (anyway for future versions we suggest the adoption of magnetic filters, such as those just introduced on the market by SilverStone).

Socket area and CPU cooler

In the upper part it is not possible the installation of radiators like the Corsair H100 as there is enough space for only a single 120mm fan; however it is possible to install models like the Antec Kuhler 920.There is much room that will allow the installation of liquid cooling systems particularly thick and bulky, also dual fan (push-pull). Alternatively it is possible to integrate at the bottom a liquid cooling system, a triple fan radiator, to be positioned in place of the two AP181 or above them. As we mentioned earlier, there is the modern rear opening for the change of the heat sink and the backplate, very large and well placed. Please note that the whole motherboard tray is removable, a feature typical of enthusiast cabinet and server solutions. The removal is done from the top but unfortunately there are no handles so we suggest doing that horizontally, after placing the cabinet on the side and after removing all power connectors and peripherals.

Type of fans used

The TJ11 is equipped with two Air Penetrator 180mm fans, so we have the maximum possible for the thermal management and the air flows of the cabinet.Excellent performance and possibility of a manual adjustment of the speed, thanks to two practical switches in the upper part.In addition to the two AP181 fans there is also a third upper fan, in extraction, with a diameter of 120mm.}The noise of the two models is contained at low RPM, but at maximum speed they can be easily heard, although in this latter case we will obtain impressive thermal performance. The side, front and rear sides do not need to mount additional fans because the laminar air flow in the cabinet would disturbed. Finally, there are two other AP121 fans, for hard disks cooling.

Some details of the AP181:

In its default configuration the TJ11 presents a positive air pressure for both main and lower compartments, so the unbalance between intake and exhaust fans will help performance and wil avoid dust entering from the other openings. The presence of anti-dust filters for the fans will further help to reduce dust inside the TJ11.
