Mod’n Roll 2012: The Theory of Everything.

Another small update for you today guys.
It's slow progress but I've never really modded a case before, so I'm taking it in little steps!

I don't know if anyone has anything bad to say about the Fractal cases, but one thing I presume I will never hear is "They used to few rivets!"
On with it!
I cut a bit off of the side of the MOBO backplate to make room for it:

Mounted at couple of pieces of aluminum angle. It has to be remounted somehow:

Testfit seems promising:

Unfortunately I have to remove a bit of the dvd-cage. (Beautifuly marked in red)

So that's it for now. I'll get the cage done tomorrow, and then it's on to the next thing!

-
I think you have also to make new hole for cable management...
Anyway, as I presumed this rotated motherboard tray is e vary challenging and interesting feature.

I don't know where that should be needed, but you may have spotted something that I have missed!

Yeah, it is quite challenging! I kinda like it!
I feel the result might actually turn out the way I want it to!

Yet another small update!
I cut the drive bay:

And then mounted it in it's original place with screws for now.
I got the damn moboplate in and mounted with 3 screws for now. No need to put in rivets when I'm pretty sure I'll have to pull it several more times!
It's a small thing, but it finally feels like I made some progress!

Now I can get on with thinking up how the internals will look in the end!

From the back:

Now I need to cut a bit more off of it, that should be done tomorrow!
C ya then my fellow modders!

I was thinking to CPU power and to external peripherals (as now you have them in the bottom of the motherboard tray). But maybe you were thinking to another solution...I'll be waiting for it.

I'm amazed about all the thing you'r doin man... it's just.. oh crap.. just unbelievable! I just love the WB you made! Wow
congrats mate! I'll keep an eye on this mod for sure!

You are very right, and I stand corrected!

I'll have to find a way to get the 8 pin in there somehow!

Thank you very much! I love to read posts like this, that really is the reason why I keep doing this!

Another boring update for you guys.
I'm in the middle of figuring out where everything goes in this case.
Since this is the build with the most room I've done, I actually thought it was going to be a breeze to just throw everything in there... Boy was I wrong...

But just because I'm lying on the floor staring at the case, does not mean you shouldn't have something to look at.

Since I need 2 pumps for this build, and only have money for a single Laing DDC I decided to bring in an oldie!

Some might already have guessed where this is going if you have seen my WaterCooled CarPC, and the rest of you... I guess you will find out!

The first babysteps, to make sure I can get started measuring everything for the re-build!

That's it for now! Always leave them wanting more!

C ya soon amigos!

Thanks man!

I just hope it works this time. I'm something like 50/50 between modding pumps and killing them!

But I decided to try again! The last one works perfectly in my car!

Good now work work work work work work

So am I sir, So am I!

I have so many things I work on at the moment, so I can't be bothered to finish one thing before I start a new one.
Damn this brain of mine!

I decided it was about time to take your dirty dirty minds away from the pump.

I've been thinking about a design for rad-grills for a while, and the final design is done.
I was not really sure wether it would hold up in the mill without any support structure to clamp it down on the whole surface, but I decided to give it a go today.
I started with the 120mm grill, as it was the easiest/fastest to mill!
It turned out to work fine, and all my fears were put to shame!

On with it:
The first milling:

Gone through were it's supposed to:

Milling done:

And the leftover pieces taken out:

Looks might deceive as the ripples are not the plexi but the protective film.
I'll keep that on until I'm done milling the outline!

C ya soon guys!

Custom pump? That simply is custom watercooling guru's style.

I just love the DNA grill!

Thanks! I actually did it before with the exact same pump. I have a very bad history of modding pumps. I killed 1 for my Nintendo Wii, and I killed another on my carpc. But that's what happens when you go a bit too crazy!

I made this for my carpc:

Only the base and the magnet is stock.

Since today is my birthday, I had nothing better to do than stay a couple of hours extra at work to get a couple of little things done, and also to mill the 240mm radgrill.

I was actually going to finish up the 120mm while the other was in the cnc, but forgot the fact that I use the small plane in the cnc while I need it to do the other!
So none of them are finished yet, but they will be tuesday the latest!

On with the show!
Milled the 240mm DNA radgrill:

The left-overs. Had you asked me to mill these, I'd have said "no way"

Finally I decided how/where the rads would be mounted in the case. Blue 240 on one side, the red 120 on the other:

That's it for now.
Can't wait to get further on this, as it finally feels and looks like something useful!
