Mod’n Roll 2012: The Theory of Everything.

What to do on friday morning of easter vacation?
I was planning to go to the workshop, but decided to stay home and get started on sleeving the PSU!
Going with white, blue and red.
I used my trusted homemade tool for this. Two little pieces of metal cut to size.
Halfway done with atx cable, the PCI-e is quite anoying since it's a 2x6 pin splitter, so I'm not done with that!

5 wires later I snapped both the small bits off of the tools

But that wasn't gonna stop me so I got it done. This included a 5 minute search on the floor for one of the little tool-bits... 0,3mmx0,8mmx5mm in length is not easy to spot even though I vacuumed the floor the day before yesterday!

I might get the cable done today! If not, I'll hope to get it done tomorrow after some hours at the workshop.

A small update for you guys. I did a quick mockup with the donor gfx card, just to let you see how it's going to pan out.
I need to cut some different size spacers for the PSU cover to get it in line. Unfortunately it's not an exact science to get that damn thing sitting perfect!

Also I need a hole for the 8pin mobo cable, and something to hide the PCI-e riser cable somehow.

And good work with the VGA waterblock.

Thanks man!

Unfortunately the waterblock is not going to be used on this build, it's just an old 8800 gts card..

Time for a small update!

I had some good hours at the workshop today! Until I came home and looked at the pics I took of the periodic table... There are a couple of errors that I just hadn't seen after I milled it!

But now you mostly know how it's gonna look:

Besides that, I finally cut a hole in the top of the case for the dvd- drive:
Damn soundproofing is really hard to take off!

And this is where the periodic table will be seated. This also gives a hint about the size of it:

So apart from having to re-do the damn plaque, I also need to pull apart my dvd-drive. This is because I havn't got the faintest idea where to find a button to open it!
It should be somewhere around where I beautifully have made a "circle" but I just can't figure it out:

I shall see you guys soon!

curious idea the periodic table

I had some problems with the dvd-drive and that's now fixed! There was no button to eject!! :cheazz:
I took it upon myself to investigate further, and I spotted a small difference between my drive and one with the front bezel I found online.
With the bezel. It has 3 more lines than mine. Probably for the LED and the eject button.

Mine, as you see 3 less lanes on the small ribbon:

Decided to keep going, and I scraped a bit off of the plastic on the ribbon to expose the copper.
I tried on an old IDE slot in drive, and there you just had to short 2 wires, so why not try it?
=Sorry for the video quality, my cellphone is NOT good at it!

Then I soldered a couple of wires on there:

No damn dvd drive is gonna keep me down!
Voila:
=Now I just have to find a rifle and start shooting at the discs like clays when they fly out, or hunt for an old drive that has the small brushes that stops the disc from flying!
I'll go with the second choice, although the first would have been fun too!

I hope you love the new one better!

I do believe it is time for an update!

I finished the back of the case:

The little chair thingy does not look good anymore...

Mounted:

I also got around to fixing the periodic table. It was a NIGHTMARE! CamWorks crashed on me everytime I tried to fix it, and when it didn't it took 30-40 minutes to update the toolpaths... So it litterally took me hours of working around to do it. But it's done!

I put in a cigarette to give a hint of the size, it's 100x150mm:

That's it for now, but I'm on the job again guys!

-
I forgot one small thing in my update!
The inlet/oulet on the rads are 1/4" and my fittings are 1/8".
This does not work:

But add this little thing that I made when I had 15 minutes after work today:

And all is well:

That's it for now!

well done bro

Y U no make self-constructed fits?

well done broThanks man! It means a lot to me that you guys like what I do!

Just a quick and small update. It may not look any different at all, but I finally got around to mounting the cover plate on the bottom and
the back. That sure did stiffen up the case a lot!

And I made sure the gfx will sit vertical:

Thank God I love modding, because I live in a 1 room appartment, and this is my workbench:

 Gotta get the vaccuum cleaner out some time soon...
Now it's time to remove the drive bay, I just want to make sure the guys are done with all the electronics before I design the new piece
that goes there. It has to hold the dvd-drive, the DC motor and I have to find a good spot for the motion sensor.

That's it for now, catch you on the flipside!

Well... I actually DID think about it! But with all the other work I have on this, and the fact that I got the fittings for 1 Euro a piece, I just didn't feel like it was worth it... I have a couple of ideas for fittings, but there's just so much other stuff I need to do...
1. I have to finish this build.
2. Then I have to make new waterblocks for my own stationary pc. I got some new stuff the other day:

Gonna go all black tops for the waterblocks, and try to make everything stealth, so you can't see the watercooling

3. Then I have to find a new motherboard for my CarPc and rebuild that with the watercooling.
4. Then I'm going to watercool my PS3....
Tell me when I should find the time to design and make fittings?

This is insanely brilliant! :clapclap:

Actually I was joking, that's already an insane mod and as you have already told us the cost is prohibitive.
