L'interesse verso questo nuovo tipo di memorie, denominate ora Phase Change Random Access Memory è sempre crescente e promette di realizzare SSD ad altissime prestazioni, a metà strada tra le memorie DRAM e gli SSD NAND Flash, ad un costo di produzione contenuto.
