Cos'è PCmark 7 ?

PCMark 7 è la nuova utility di benchmarking e test del proprio sistema sviluppata da Futuremark, specifica per l'utilizzo con sistema operativo Windows 7, che riprende la tradizione delle precedenti release di PCMark. La finalità di questo strumento è quella di fornire una indicazione di sintesi del comportamento del proprio sistema, affiancando a questo alcuni risultati di sintesi specifici per alcuni dei sottosistemi implementati.

PCMark 7 viene proposto in 3 distinte versioni, tutte basate sullo stesso eseguibile da scaricare che vengono attivate in funzione del tipo di codice che viene acquistato. La Basic Edition è completamente gratuita; quella Advanced viene proposta a 39,95 dollari mentre la release Professional è proposta a 995,00 dollari. PCMark 7 comprende 7 differenti gruppi di test, per un totale di 25 workload individuali che possono venir eseguiti. I test sono raggruppati nelle seguenti categorie:

  • The PCMark test measures overall system performance and returns an official PCMark score.
  • The Lightweight test measures the capabilities of entry level systems unable to run the full PCMark test.
  • The Entertainment test measures system performance in entertainment, media and gaming scenarios.
  • The Creativity test measures performance in typical creativity scenarios involving images and video.
  • The Productivity test measures system performance scenarios using the Internet and office applications.
  • The Computation test contains workloads that isolate the computation performance of the system.
  • The Storage test contains workloads that isolate the performance of the PC’s storage system.
